1Khenchen Kuenzang Thinley
Khenchen Kuenzang Thinley
I was born in Norbugang village in Samar Gewog under Haa district. At the age of seven I joined in Central Monastic Body of Pung-Thim. Till sixteen I received the basic monastic education and practiced Vajrayana rites. After that, at the age of seventeen and eighteen, I learned Tibetan literature from the former Vajra Master Ngawang Tenzin, at Chari monastery for two consecutive years. From the age of eighteen till twenty-four, I stayed in Phajoding monastery. Under the guidance of the late Master, Ven. Lekshed Jamtsho, I’d studied Buddhist philosophies and literature as well. In the following years, I went to Tago Buddhist Institute. Over there, I studied and contemplated in all the major philosophies thoroughly, from the venerable himself. After completing the studies, I served as a lecturer at Tago monastery for five years, however I still kept on studying despite being a teacher. At the age of twenty-nine, I did my M.A in Buddhism from Tago Monastery, and I was also awarded as the best scholar among the first batch of M.A students in the year 1993.

From the year 1994 till 1998, I served as a senior lecturer at Tago monastery and taught various Buddhist texts and teachings. After that, I returned to Chari and received all the secret teachings including Mahamudra views, six practices of Naropa, and five profound and vast orders of Drukpa lineage, from H.H the late 68th Jekhenpo of Bhutan. With extreme dedication and hard work, I’ve practiced, yogi’s secret profound tantric method for three years consecutively. Following the completion, I was appointed as a meditation instructor at Tago Yosel Gatshel meditation center when I was 37 years old, by H.H the late 68th Jekhenpo of Bhutan. After resigning from being a meditation instructor, I served as a vice principal at Sangkhor Shedra in paro, then as a principal agent at Lekshed Jungney Shedra in Punakha, and a lecturer at Nalanda Shedra. At the age 41 I’d been appointed as principal at Sangchen Dorji Lhundrup Nunnery in Punakha, and served there for four years. In 2015 at the age of 46, I was appointed as a president at Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. Now it’s been more than half a decade teaching and spreading Buddhism to various Buddhist scholars here at the university, and serving the country and the people.
2Chizin - Khenpo Karchung

I am Karchung, fifty-three years old currently working as a lecturer and the administrator in Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University and this is the seventh year. I studied at Chari when it was as Shedra. Later in 1990 when it got upgraded into meditation center, I joined for the retreat as the first batch under 68th Jekhenpo Tenzin Dendrup. Prior to my work of today, I was for more than 20 years in Mahamudra practice (Co-emergence Yoga) sitting including in the forests and in several mountains of Bhutan. I realized that the Sanskrit words in the mantras and texts, though interpreted with many subtle and various meanings, were not clearly defined.
3Chizin - Khenpo Thoepa Jamtsho
Khenpo Thoepa Jamtsho
My name is Thoepa Jamtsho, and I hail from Gaselo in the Wangdiphodrang district. I commenced my monastic journey at the age of seven, on March 28, 1990, and received foundational monastic education until 1997. In 1998, at the age of fifteen, I enrolled at Dodey-Drak Monastery for advanced studies in Buddhism. I graduated from Tago Buddhist University in 2007, at the age of twenty-five.

Subsequently, I devoted the following year to meditation at Chari Monastery. From the ages of twenty-five to thirty, I committed five consecutive years to intensive meditation practices, ranging from preliminary exercises to advanced visualization and contemplation techniques.

Upon reaching the age of thirty, I began my role as a lecturer at Tago. After a period of time, I transitioned to my current position as Khenpo at Dorden Tashithang University. I have been teaching Buddhism for nearly six years, and I look forward to continuing this important work in the years to come.
4Khenpo Jamyang Chophel
Khenpo Jamyang Chophel
I was born on the 7th day of 10th month of the female tree ox year of the Bhutanese calendar in the year 1985 at one of the places which is blessed by Guru Rinpoche in Bumthang Chhoekhor valley. Both of my parents raised me with love and care, and at the age of seven I was sent to Chhoekhor Toed Primary School and studied till class seven.

As per accumulation merits, it urged an opportunity to become monk in 1996. Starting from reading and writing to Vajrayana rites, I received all the basic educations of monastery from Khenpos and mentors. I also studied profound Buddhist philosophies and logic. In 2013 I did my M.A in Buddhism at Tago Buddhist Institute. Later, I went for Mahamudra preliminary practice at Chari monastery.

After completing the preliminary practice, I went to Theg-Chog Sonam Gatshel Meditation Center instituted at Chi-zhi Goenpa the Tara heaven. Over there, I received various teachings of visualization and emptiness, including the six practices of Naropa, from Vajra Master Ngawang Sonam Jamtsho the Vajra holder Buddha in reality. In 2017, after completing the three years meditation successfully, I came at Tago monastery as a lecturer under the command of Monastic Education Office. Having transferred later here, currently I’m serving as a senior lecturer in Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University.
5Khenpo Tshewang Rigzin
Khenpo Tshewang Rigzin
I am Tshewang Rigzin and I was born in Jarey Kharchung in 1981, Lhuentse. I joined the Monastic body of Lhuentse Dzong at the age 10, where I began early education in reading and writing. I studied extensive Buddhist scriptures for years and later in 2006, I graduated with a M.A in Buddhist Philosophy from the University of Tago at Thimphu. After completing my studies, I practiced the Mahamudra preliminary meditation and guru sadhana in Chari Monastery under the guidance of His Holiness the 68thJekhenpo Tenzin Dendup. I also studied Sanskrit and Buddhist literature in Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi in 2008 and subsequently came back to Bhutan in 2018. I served as a lecturer at Tago Buddhist Institute for five years, and currently I’m a research Dean in DordenTashithang Buddhist University. I have published books on Buddhist literature viz., Nyen-ngak Nyingdue (Metaphores), Tsomrig Lamten (Way of writing stanzas) and commentary of Lekshay Joenwang (Grammar).

Dr. Karma Chophel
I am Karma Chhoephel born on 15/11/1992 in Larjab Goenpa, Menbi under Lhuentse district, Bhutan. I started reading and writing since I was three years old and got entered as a Lhuentse Jangchhubling sangha member. I was registered in Lhuentse Dzong in 2000 and then started there to study and then passed from the elementary courses. I went to Kidhey Khar shedra in 2008. I got middle secondary Buddhist education under Khenpo Ngawang Tenzin and completed in 2012. I went to Kanglung Shedra and studied under Khenpo Karma Rangdol till 2014. I pursued my education in Tago in 2015 and then had gone to M.A Buddhist Philosophy under Khenchen Kinzang Thinley. I completed M.A in 2017. I had done preliminary course of meditation at Tago in 2018. After officially initiated the PhD program in 2019, I joined as the first batch and started the research of Madyamika. I got to Semtokha Shedra to teach having included as my training program. I passed out my PhD in 2022 in Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. As per the command from the Central Monastic body, today I serve here as the teacher, teaching Uttara Tantra and Paramita.
7Lecturer Kinley Paljor
Lecturer Kinley Paljor
Lecturer Kinley Paljor hails from Tagshar in the Darkar Gewog of Wangdi Phodrang. At the age of eleven, he commenced his training at the Gelephug Dratshang, where he studied kilchhogkor. He graduated from Kanglung Buddhist College and subsequently pursued further education at Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in 2019. Following this, under the guidance of His Eminence Dorlop Rinpochhe, he completed a Three-Year Retreat at Drolung Sangag Chhoeling Drudhey. Upon finishing his retreat, he was appointed as a lecturer in the institution.
8Lecturer Thubten Rinchhen
Lecturer Thubten Rinchhen
Lecturer Thubten Rinchhen has joined the monastic community and commenced his study of zhirim-kil-chhogkor at Wangdi Phodrang Dzong at the age of nine. He pursued his intermediate studies at Shar Chhuney Goenpa Shedra, followed by further education at Khothang Rinchenling Shedra. In 2009, he successfully completed his higher education at Tago Buddhist University. Subsequently, he engaged in the practice of preliminary and Vajrayana Mahamudra under the guidance of the 68th Jekhenpo, Tenzin Dondrup. He served as a teacher at Semtokha Sangzab Shedra for a duration of nine years. Prior to his appointment as a lecturer at this institution, he concluded a Three-Year Retreat at Tago Yoesel Gatshel Drubdhey under the supervision of the 70th Jekhenpo and the esteemed teacher, Dorji Lopen.
9Lecturer Goenpo Dorji
Lecturer Goenpo Dorji
Lecturer Goenpo Dorji originates from Yutshozhong, Lunana Gewog, situated within Gasa Dzongkhag. His educational journey commenced at a primary school, followed by enrollment at Thimphu Dechen Phodrang Monastic School, where he studied kilchog under the guidance of teacher Lopen Karma Geleg. In 2007, he furthered his education at Sewala Shedra, an intermediate Buddhist institution, under the tutelage of Jamgoen Mipham Chhoeki Nyinjey and Khenchen Tshering Dorji. Subsequently, he completed his studies at Kanglung Chhoekhortse and Paro Sangchhoekhor Buddhist College, receiving instruction from esteemed educators including Tsuglag Lopen Karma Rangdrel and Khenchen Phuetshog.

In pursuit of advanced Buddhist studies, Lecturer Dorji obtained a Master of Arts degree from Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University, where he was instructed by Khenchen Kinzang Thinley, Khenchen Karma, and Khenpo Namgay, among others. He subsequently continued his education in India, completing a Three-Year Retreat at Yangpai Goenpa in Punakha under the supervision of Drubwang Karma Jurme. In 2023, he was appointed as a lecturer.
10Lecturer Sonam Tenzin
Lecturer Sonam Tenzin
Sonam Tenzin was born in 1991 in Kurtoe, Thunpe. He joined the Lhuntse Dratshang in 2003 with the intention of becoming a monk and successfully completed his basic monastic education in 2008. Following the completion of his studies, he served as a clerk in the Treasure Preservation Division.

From 2011 to 2017, Sonam Tenzin pursued further education at the Kanglung Shedra under the guidance of Khen Karma Rangdol, obtaining both intermediary and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Buddhist doctrines. Subsequently, he attended Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University, where he studied under various esteemed Buddhist mentors, including Khen Kunzang Thinley, and completed a Master of Arts in Buddhist Higher Studies. During his time at the university, he held the position of Disciplinary and took the initiative to research and compile a book titled "Rosary of Crystal Gem of Successive Lineages," which chronicles the lives of Gyelse Tenzin Rabgye.

In 2020, he commenced the accumulation of preliminary practices at Chari Monastery. From 2021 to 2023, he engaged in a three-year meditation retreat at the Drolung Gonpa, the esteemed seat of the late Jekhenpo Geshe Gedun Rinchen, after receiving instruction in the practices of Mahamudra and the Six Practices of Naropa. Currently, Sonam Tenzin serves as a lecturer at Dorden Tashithang University.
11Lopen Tandin Tshewang
Lopen Tandin Tshewang
My name is Tandin Tshewang, and I became a monk with the Central Monastic Body of Bhutan in the year 2000. Following this, I completed my secondary education at Simtokha Shedra in Thimphu. Subsequently, I sought mentorship from distinguished masters, including Khewang Norbu Gyeltshen, former Yoenten Lopen Tulku Thinley, and Khenchen Kuenzang Thinley, with whom I studied various aspects of Buddhist philosophy and literature.

In 2022, I attained a Master's degree in Buddhism from Dorden Buddhist University. Thereafter, I engaged in preliminary Mahamudra meditation at Chari Monastery. At present, I hold the position of IT instructor at Dorden Tashithang University while concurrently dedicating my efforts to serving the Sangha community.
12Lopen Karma Tenzin
Lopen Karma Tenzin
I, Karma Tenzin, originate from the picturesque valley of Autsho in Lhuntse Dzongkhag. I completed my formal education at Dechencholing Middle Secondary School in Thimphu, where I earned my Bhutan Certificate of Secondary Education (Class X) in 2010. Driven by a desire to pursue monastic life, I was ordained as a monk on the fourth day of the first month of the Bhutanese calendar in 2011. Subsequently, I engaged in monastic education at Dodeydrak Buddhist Institute in Thimphu, completing the Intermediary Course from Zindra Losar to Zindra Zhepa.

Furthering my academic journey, I was privileged to attain a Bachelor of Arts (Shastri) in Buddhist Philosophy from Sangchen Chokhor Buddhist College in Paro. Upon completion of my Bachelor's degree, I was honored to receive my degree certificate from Tsugla Lopen Samten Dorji of Zhung Dratshang. Due to my diligence and commitment, I was granted the invaluable opportunity to pursue advanced studies at Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University, where I obtained a Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies, graduating in 2021. I was awarded my Master's certificate by His Eminence Gyalse Trulku Jigme Tenzin Wangpo and His Eminence Tsugla Lopen Karma Rangdrol of Zhung Dratshang.

Currently, I serve as a faculty member at Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University, where I teach a Basic English Course to undergraduate students.
13Lopen Chimi Wangchuk
Lopen Chimi Wangchuk
My name is Chhimi Wangchuk, and I am originally from Thara in the Punakha Dzongkhag. I was born on the fifth day of the fifth month in 1992 and began my monastic journey at the age of six by enrolling at Pung-Thim Monastery. Over the span of eight years, I dedicated myself to the practice of mask dance, Mandala, and the melodies intrinsic to the Drukpa lineage, culminating my training in 2004. Subsequently, I resided at Bod-kar Drak Karpo Monastery from 2004 to 2007.

Following this period, I attended Sewa La Shedra, where I engaged in an extensive study of various subjects, including the Middle Way (Madhyamika), Perfection of Wisdom, Canon of Monastic Discipline, Metaphysics, and Logic. I had the privilege of mentorship from esteemed individuals such as Geshe Tshering Dorji and Khenpo Nima over the course of five years.

In 2013, I enrolled in Wogmin Chhoekhor Tse Shedra in Kanglung for advanced studies. During this period, I studied under the distinguished Khenpo Karma Rangdol and other knowledgeable lecturers, culminating in the attainment of the Shastri degree. Subsequently, I pursued further education at Tago and Dorden Tashithang Buddhist Universities for three years under the guidance of Khenchen Kunzang Thinley, ultimately achieving a Master of Arts in Buddhism from Dorden Tashithang University in 2017.

Currently, I hold a position as an educator while also contributing to the Research Division. I remain committed to enhancing my contributions to the monastic community in Bhutan in the future.
14Lopen Nima Wangdi
Lopen Nima Wangdi
My name is Nima Wangdi, and I hail from the village of La-khu in Punakha. In 2002, I became a member of the Central Monastic Body of Tashi Chhoedzong, where I commenced my early monastic education at Dechen Phodrang Monastery. During my tenure at Semtokha and Tago Shedra, I engaged in the study of extensive Buddhist scriptures under the mentorship of esteemed masters in the field. In 2017, I obtained a Master’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy from the University of Tago in Thimphu. In 2018, I undertook the practice of Maha Mudra preliminary meditation and am currently serving as a researcher within the university’s research division.
15Lopen Thinley Jamtsho
Lopen Thinley Jamtsho
I originate from Pemagatshel, specifically from the villages of Nanong and Gonpawong. At the age of eleven, I joined the Samtse Dratshang, which is a monastic division of the Drukpa tradition. During my time there, I acquired foundational knowledge in monastic education, advancing from a preliminary class to the eighth standard. My studies encompassed spiritual dances, the construction of mandalas, and vocal chants.

In 2011, upon completing my initial education, I relocated to Thimphu to pursue higher Buddhist education. I was admitted to Simtokha Shedra, where I commenced my study of Buddhist doctrines. Following this, I studied at the Tango Buddhist Institute and Dorden Tashithang University under the guidance of various esteemed mentors, successfully completing all requisite courses.

Encouraged by my distinguished mentors, I engaged in meditation at Drolung Gonpa, the seat of Geshe Gedun Rinchen, in 2019 after concluding my theoretical studies in Buddhist doctrines. During my retreat, I received teachings on Mahamudra and the Six Practices of Naropa from a venerable Vajra Master associated with the central monastic body of Bhutan.

In 2024, I successfully completed a three-year meditation retreat and am currently employed in a research division at Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University.

Lopen Pasang Wangdi
My name is Pasang Wangdi, and I am originally from Mochu, located in the Haa district. I attended Gongzim Ugyen Dorji Higher Secondary School in Haa from 1999 to 2010, where I completed my education up to the 10th standard. In 2011, a pivotal moment in my life occurred when I embraced the path of monasticism. On the 29th day of the first month of the lunar calendar, I joined Sangchhen Chhoekhor Buddhist Institute to pursue my studies as a monk.

During my time at the Buddhist Institute, I advanced through the preliminary class and ultimately earned a degree in Shastri. After completing my studies at the institute, I enrolled at Dorden Tashithang University in 2021, where I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Buddhism. In addition to my academic endeavors, I am also serving as a staff member at the university.

Lopen lhab Tshering
My name is Lhab Tshering, and I am a resident of Tshaphel in the Haa district. I commenced my journey in Buddhist education in 2009 by joining the Haa monastic body. During the subsequent six years, I engaged in comprehensive monastic training, specializing in various Buddhist rituals and practices.

To further enhance my understanding of Buddhist philosophy, I pursued academic studies at Dodedrak and Sangchokhor Shedra, where I concentrated on Madhyamika philosophy, Abhidharma, and Buddhist logic. These formative years provided me with a robust foundation in Buddhist scriptures, debate, and critical analysis of philosophical concepts.

In 2023, I attained my Master’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy from Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. This academic endeavor not only enriched my knowledge but also reinforced my commitment to Buddhist teachings and their relevance in contemporary society.

Currently, I serve as an accountant at Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University. In this capacity, I contribute to the institution's financial management while actively participating in its academic and spiritual environment. My experience in both monastic education and administrative roles enables me to support the university’s mission of preserving and promoting Buddhist wisdom.
18Lopen Sangay Phuntsho
Sangay Phuntsho has joined in Tashi Yantse Sangha at the age of eight and spent ten years studying the courses beginning from elementary. He started studying in Sangzap Shedra (Semtokha) at the age of 21 and then in Sangkhor Shedra (Buddhist College). He studied in Dorden Tashithang Buddhist university under the scholars and completed Masters of Arts in Buddhist Philosophy.

He received the preliminary Ngondro Vajrayana course and many others from His Eminence Dorji Lopen Drubwang Sonam Jamtsho. Not only it but also the blessings from His Eminence. He served one year as the Kangyuedpa in Tashi Yangtse Dzong and also as the co-worker in Sangzap Shedra. After serving as the co-worker too in Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University, he serves as the Guest House In-charge today.
