Dr. Damchoe
My name is Damchoe and I was born in 1989. I went to nearby school in Gasa at the age 8, and studied modern education for few years. During the formal commencement of the Monastic body of Gasa Dzong in 1999, I became a monk by taking refuge ceremony at the age 11. Since then, I studied and practiced the ritual systems of Drukpa Kargyud tradition for five years in the Gasa Dzong.
In 2004, I extensively studied Buddhist studies in the five-volume scriptures and other Shastri courses from many learned masters. I also went to India to supplement my knowledge in Buddhist scriptures from 2011 to 2016 studying in various Buddhist institutes and subsequently came back to Bhutan. In 2018, I successfully graduated with M.A in Buddhist studies from the Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University at Thimphu. After graduating, I opted for PhD in Buddhist studies for three years and completed in 2021 and currently I’m a lecturer for the Dorden Tashithang Buddhist University.
